FAQ
Is there a fee for having a portrait taken?
No, there is no sitting fee
for senior portraits, and there is no fee to appear in the book.
However, you will have to pay if you’d like to order prints of the
photo taken.
What should I wear?
Men should wear a jacket and
tie. Women should wear an appropriate blouse or sweater.
How long will it take to have my portrait done?
The sitting itself is very
short. You'll have to fill out brief paperwork to confirm your
contact information, and then the photographer will take 3-5 shots of
you. However, we recommend that you arrive early in the day
towards the beginning of the week to avoid long lines. Students
arriving late on Friday evening may be turned away.
Can I submit my own portrait to the yearbook?
No. Due to contractual
obligations, the portraits we publish must be taken by Prestige Portraits.
If you miss the portrait session, it is not possible for us to include
a portrait of you. However, if you'd still like a chance to get
a photo of yourself in the book, you can submit a high resolution candid
photo of you and your friends by emailing it here: chanticleer.submissions@gmail.
How do I request which pose I’d like to appear in the book?
If you don’t chose a pose, a default pose selected by Prestige Portraits will automatically be included in the book. There are 3 ways you can select a pose yourself:

by April 17th or the default pose will appear in the book.
Will my portrait still be in the book if I don’t order any photos from Lifetouch?
Yes, a portrait will automatically
be selected by Lifetouch to appear in the book. However, if you
don’t order photos you will not be able to select a different pose
online. Instead, call Lifetouch or email your pose number to chanticleer.seniors@duke.edu.
What do I do if I haven’t received my proof package yet?
Proof packages are sent to
your permanent home address, not to your mailbox on campus. These
mailings, especially those sent internationally, are sometimes lost
or delayed. Call Lifetouch customer service at 1-800-426-9533
or 1-800-736-4775 to request information about how to access your proofs
online.
How do I get copies of a yearbook from my freshman, sophomore, or junior year?
If there are still copies of
an old yearbook, they’ll be available for free in the office when
you have your portrait taken.
When will I receive a copy of my senior yearbook?
Your yearbook will be mailed
to your home address free of charge the fall after you graduate, so
make sure your contact information is accurate!
